In 2022, there were far more leases for new light trucks than for new passenger cars in the United States. While the number of car leases was less than half a million, there were roughly 1.8 million truck leases that year. This difference has widened a lot in the past years. Overall, the share of all new vehicles that are leased in the U.S. increased slightly in 2023.
